I’m from the government, and I’m here to help you…
Obama.
The savior.
The ambassador of change.
The first president to ever have the real answers we need.
I’m I the only person who thinks this is a crock of poo? First of all, the historical evidence, along with the evidence of his actual plans (which, by the way, are barely vetted), strongly suggest that at best it will be no change at all, and at worst he will turn us into a socialistic bastardized economy.
When Obama talks about America needing a change, he doesn’t mean anything in particular, except for one thing: He would be President.
The change Obama wants is for himself to have the power.
So I mentioned the historical evidence that suggests this is all a crock of poo. Many countries before us have had unpopular leaders, recessions, and unpopular wars. The result is usually the same. In Russia, they got Joseph Stalin. In Germany, they got Adolph Hitler. The people of those countries DEMANDED that change.
Even recently, we’ve seen Russia, a country historically hard-line communist, reverting back to its old ways. Why? Because the economy there sucks and the people are used to living somewhere with a tough leader who doesn’t care who likes it.
I don’t think Obama is tough. I think Obama is Robin Hood. Obama wants to redistribute wealth from “rich” people and organizations to poor people. Never mind that rich people create jobs. Never mind that organizations… even oil companies… employ people and are owned by regular Americans. In fact, public companies are owned by MANY Americans.
So when Obama starts talking about windfall profits taxes and giving “excess profits” to poor people, what he’s really planning to do is take earnings away from investors (including your 401k, I might mention) and giving it to dopey people whose vote can be purchased for a few hundred bucks. And lets not forget that the oil companies (who make about 8% profit as opposed to Microsoft’s 20%) will have to make up for that huge tax somehow, so expect gas prices to go up. And if he can tax big oil, he can tax any company that “makes too much money.”
This is fairytale thinking. Robin Hood sounds like a great idea, because in that case, he was robbing FROM THE GOVERNMENT and giving the money to the oppressed people. The story kind of falls apart when you start taking money from successful and ambitious people and giving it to the lazy and underacheiving population. Pure socialism such as that can only incent people to work less, or to take their toys and move to another country.
I think we Americans usually ignore the long-term impacts of socialism. We want our $1,000 checks from those big oil bastards, consequences be damned! I’d rather give up my $1,000 check today so that I can live in a country that isn’t going down the drain.
Add to that Obama’s stark anti-American record of voting for higher taxes, gun control, abortion on demand (including partial birth), and his absolute lack of any international credibility, and then add a dash of his inability to speak extemporaneously (a sign of someone who’s merely an actor memorizing lines), and you’ve got a disaster in the making.
If Obama is the President and Pelosi is still the speaker of the house… you’d better stock up on rations and hide your wallet.
Obama is not the savior. He is at best a political hack, and at worst, the man who will take us down the road towards socialism that will be nearly impossible to undo.
