Have you ever personally listened to Rush Limbaugh? I don’t mean for 5 minutes. Have you ever listened to an entire program?

I have been listening daily to Rush Limbaugh since I was 14 years old. I’ve missed very few shows. When I can’t listen to the program live, I listen to the podcast. This makes me a pretty solid authority on what Rush Limbaugh SAYS and BELIEVES.

Rush gets accused of a lot of outrageous things. Almost without exception, these accusations are based on snippets taken out of context. He’s become such a target of the left that even news stations don’t challenge each other’s reporting when it comes to these things. For instance, if MSNBC takes a snippet and says Rush hates Mexicans, you won’t see ABC news checking their facts and then challenging what they reported. It just won’t happen.

I suppose some of it may be jealousy. Rush has been the number one radio program in America since I was in junior high. That’s quite an accomplishment. He’s become the de facto conservative leader (not to be mistaken with the Republican party) in America.

Having listened to Rush for such a long time, you could hardly call him a Republican. Yes, he’s registered that way, but he is disgusted with the direction the Republicans have taken the past 15-20 years… as am I. Rush identifies himself as a conservative, not a Republican.

Rush does not want to be a Republican figurehead. He wants to be an entertainer. That’s what he’s good at. People thought he was crazy when he first started. “A three-hour talk show with NO guests?!” Yet he’s been doing that format ever since. People enjoy listening to Rush for a couple of reasons. He’s funny. He reports things that you just won’t hear on the news. Most importantly, he’s an optimist.

If you listen to liberal talk radio, it’s all doom and gloom. Even a lot of conservative talk radio is doom and gloom.

I stopped listening to other talk shows. Rush can talk about tough issues and still keep it positive. He offers hope to people better than the likes of Obama, because unlike Obama, Rush offers hope by encouraging you to DO IT ON YOUR OWN. Obama offers hope by promising that the government will save you.

I guess what I’m saying is, don’t judge Rush for things he hasn’t said or for things taken out of context. If you did listen to him for a solid week, you’d be laughing and nodding your head in agreement a lot more than you’d probably care to admit.

Am I the only person who noticed the difference in the reaction from the White House between Tiller’s killing and the Holocaust Museum killings yesterday?

When Tiller was killed, the White House was “outraged” and quickly “condemned the cowardly act.” When a white supremacist with love for all things socialist killed two people at the Holocaust Museum yesterday, the White House was “saddened.”

WTF White House?!

Can we at least be outraged and condemn BOTH of them?

Even if you think killing Tiller was a hate crime, you should at least be able to acknowledge that killing people because you hate “Jews and Negros” is equally bad… Every stinking politician and political action group condemned Tiller’s killing. Where are all those people now?

Was it worse to kill Tiller because he was an advocate for the left, a doctor, and a well-known national figure? Is that worse than killing a security guard just trying to do his job? Apparently so, based on the reaction.

I was baffled by the lack of media coverage of the two soldiers killed the same day as Tiller by a jihadist Muslim wacko, and I’m equally confused by the reaction to yesterday’s shooting. The inconsistency is ridiculous and laughable to anyone with critical thinking abilities.

When Tiller was killed, it was the top story for a week. Earlier today I couldn’t find the Holocaust Museum story on CNN’s website. For the record, it’s there now, but geez…. where was it? They only put it back up to the top because they had new information. Tiller’s story was up for a week and didn’t change at all.

Anyone who still thinks the media isn’t in the tank for the left is a moron. Yeah, “we” have Fox News, but you have EVERYTHING ELSE.

I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed intelligent thoughts and opinions during the past three days regarding George Tiller. I appreciated the honest, open dialogue, even when we don’t all agree. I’m happy that there are those who can have debates without judging or being insulting. To those who didn’t follow the rules of legitimate debate, shame on you for being silly, judgmental and dense.

The killing of George Tiller has been front page news since it happened on Sunday. He was killed by a lone gunman who had a history of mental illness and who was a member of several radical groups, including the “Freemen” which was an anti-government, anti-tax group. He definitely needed a checkup from the neck up. The media has jumped all over this killing to make their favorite point: Christians are just as extreme and nutty as Muslim Jihadists.

While that’s to be expected, it still makes one wonder sometimes. The same day, a Muslim named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad shot two soldiers outside a recruiting station in Arkansas. I actually had to dig to find an article about it, but here it is: One Soldier Killed, One Injured by Islam Convert. Neither of the soldiers were actually recruiters. They had just finished basic training and were there to tell their stories to potential recruits. They hadn’t even been deployed yet.

Now why, it makes me ask, did Tiller’s face appear on the front page of everything the past several days, and I have to search to find news articles about this ACTUAL terrorist? He didn’t do it because he was nutty or unbalanced, he did it in the name of Allah.

I can tell you exactly why it wasn’t reported with the fervor that Tiller was reported. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad killed soldiers. Granted, he did it in Arkansas, not in Iraq, but they were soldiers. Here are the reasons that the story was under reported:

Obama is currently trying to reach out and “find common ground” with Muslims, and this story would not have helped that cause.

What Tiller was doing in his “medical” practice was supported by Liberals, and the media is mostly run by liberals. What the soldiers were doing (being soldiers) was not supported by Liberals, who slam the military at every opportunity. You’re only allowed to kill people who disagree with the Liberal agenda.

Tiller was better for ratings, because abortion – 35 years after Roe v Wade – is still a passionate issue for most people. People get killed by nutjobs all the time… this particular victim was a champion for late-term abortion and a darling of the far left.

The media believes we (the United States) are provoking acts like the killing of soldiers. After all, they say, we are supporting Israel, bombing the Middle East, etc. Tiller was a “wonderful, compassionate Christian” who never provoked anyone to violence. The soldiers had it coming, and Tiller didn’t.

If you think the media in general is fair and balanced, you are out of your cotton-pickin’ mind. They display their bias not in what they report, but in what they don’t report. Don’t let the media tell you what to think… be informed and think for yourself.

I appreciate any opinion that’s informed and well thought out, even if you disagree with me.

Apparently the World Health Organization disagrees with all the panic about swine flu (as I have been saying for a week now).

In this <a href=http://www.smh.com.au/world/only-7-swine-flu-deaths-not-152-says-who-20090429-aml1.html">article, they say that there have actually only been 79 confirmed cases of swine flu worldwide with 7 deaths, all in Mexico. So rather than 150+ deaths, we only really have 7… the rest were from the plain old ordinary flu.

It’s an established fact that 36,000 Americans die every year from the regular old flu. Most of those are older people or those with compromised immune systems. Swine flu appears to attack healthy people whose immune systems overreact (see, it pays to be old and sickly). But here we are panicking about a disease that’s killed at worst 150 people and at best 7 people where the normal flu season kills 36,000 just in America.

The swine flu panic is the product of sensationalist reporting. Remember how the avian flu was going to kill us all? Remember how we were all going to catch AIDS from public restrooms and swimming pools? Remember how after Katrina, every tropical storm warranted days of continuous fatalistic news coverage? The news media is so concerned with ratings that they over-report scary things to make the public tune in.

On the plus side, anti-bacterial soap and surgical mask manufacturers will likely see their profits soar with this manufactured crisis. Which of course Obama will confiscate because they will be “obscene profits” and he will undoubtedly give the money to drunken bums and UAW workers.

Best way not to catch swine flu: Don’t kiss pigs. Don’t kiss sick people. Wash your hands.

Once again, as if by magic, the liberal media has decided that instead of reporting events, they are going to politicize and spin them to their own agenda.

Back on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, as happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR (in the bitter cold of January) since its passage, the pro life community held a gigantic protest in Washington DC. This year, there were more than 300,000 people in attendance. There were also pro choice protesters there, but most reports say it was less than 100 people.

Well, guess what was in New York newspapers?

An archive photo of PRO CHOICE protesters… Read this: “In an article dated January 23, Gannett’s Democrat and Chronicle ran a report on a pro-life advocates attending the March for Life rally with the headline, “Rally Supports Roe v. Wade.” In addition to the slanted headline, the newspaper report began with a focus on pro-abortion demonstrators, who were far outnumbered by the pro-life supporters taking part in the March for Life. The article made mention of less than a dozen people who lined a Rochester street, holding signs supporting abortion.”

And the Washington Post, another biased rag not suitable for use as toilet paper did the same thing – a photo of 5 feminists holding pro-choice signs and an article that only mentions “thousands of abortion opponents” instead of using the actual numbers estimated by the police department.

This rally has occurred every year for 34 years, and I’ll bet you’ve never heard of it before you read my post here.

The media does more than slant stories, they show their bias by what they choose to report and what they choose not to report. My hope is that you’ll all remember that there’s never a single source of news that tells the entire story – they all have their agendas. Make sure you read widely and draw your own conclusions.

Even if you’re a liberal (Andria), you should read Drudge and O’Reilly as counterbalance to what MSNBC and ABC report. You can believe I read the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and even watch MSNBC. My primary source of news is CNN, not Fox as some of you might have thought. However, I always cross check my facts and make sure I have as much of a complete picture as possible.

It’s really stunning how overt the media bias is against conservative Christians in America.

Here’s a good article that goes into more detail about this specific event: Newsbusters Reports on March for Life Media Bias.

A lot has been made of the tea parties that happened on tax day. Depending on what news you watched, you either heard that it was a bunch of anti-Obama nuts or you heard the truth.

The concept was to protest the hand-over-fist spending and the inevitable increases in taxes that will have to occur to pay for it in the future. Taxed Enough Already was the acronym. This had nothing to do with Republicans and Democrats. It certainly had nothing to do with being anti-Obama. This was about standing together and letting the government know we don’t approve of the recklessness they’re showing right now… and frankly that they showed the past few years under W.

Joe Biden says it’s patriotic to pay taxes. I’m afraid the founding fathers would disagree with him, since the original reason for the revolution was taxes.

I guess the thing that’s shocking to me is that any American that isn’t a member of congress WOULDN’T AGREE with what they were saying at these tea parties. If you aren’t outraged by the government’s unchecked growth… then as the old adage says, you aren’t paying attention!

There were a lot of East Coast snobs thumbing their noses at the tea party idea as a bunch of right-wing kooks. I guess they must like the warmth of the sand around their heads. This should cross party lines. What we want is for the government to get back to what they are supposed to be doing and get their hands out of everything else. If you read the constitution, the list of things the FEDERAL government is supposed to be doing, it’s a pretty darn short list. The rest is left to the states.

Frankly, if a state can’t figure out how to run itself, then everyone will move out. That’s the beauty of our system. Nobody has to live somewhere in the US that they don’t like.

I could never live in California. That state is run by the biggest bunch of crooks and kooks in the country. They are regulating their way out of existence.

I could also never live in New York or Boston. They’ve decided that they want to basically be localized welfare states with ridiculous tax rates. Between the New York city tax and the New York state tax, it adds up to 21%. And then you still have to pay the feds. To put that into perspective, my total local and state tax here in Kansas is about 5%.

But people have a choice. If the state of New York acts in a stupid enough manner, they will drive out their residents.

My desire is that people stop getting their news from one place. Whether that be Fox, MSNBC, CNN, Wall Street Journal, New York Times… all of these news outlets have their own agenda. Instead of believing whatever they spoon feed you, why don’t you venture out and see for yourself what the grass-roots taxation movement is all about.

I’ve spent much of the last week laughing at Obama’s marketing blitz. It’s as if he is still campaigning. Maybe it’s because his numbers are slipping? Anyhow, the comment about special olympics on Leno was priceless, especially after the ACTUAL special olympics bowling kid (whose average is 266) challenged him to a match.

And of course tonight he was on 60 Minutes, and on Tuesday the selfish jerk is preempting American Idol. Does he think we actually care? Can’t we simply judge him on his accomplishments? Oh, and then there was that ridiculous “Presidential Bracket” fiasco last week. As coach K said so aptly, “doesn’t he have bigger things to worry about?”

Oh, I forgot, there haven’t been any of those yet…

I really thought once the 3 year campaign from hell was over, I wouldn’t have to deal with anymore of this Celebu-Prez crap. Doesn’t he have more important things to worry about than improving his ratings? Like… say the economy, the wars, socializing everything, and using tax dollars to fund abortions…

I will say, however, that if he does an appearance on Wifeswap, I’ll definitely watch, but other than that and the State of the Union, I’d prefer to just watch my regular programming, thanks.

Oh, and one more thing… Jenna wants me to write that the inventor of the bra and the societal forces that have kept them in vogue all suck royally. I have to agree.

I wouldn’t be much of an “issues” blogger if I didn’t mention the CNN airing of the insurgent sniper video. I’ve left it alone because I figured it would naturally blow up in CNN’s face. However, since it doesn’t appear that’s happened yet, I’ll chime in.

I don’t know if you’ve watched the video, and I’m not even going to link it. It’s not worthy of being linked, unless you’re a nihilist. (Nighmare, you’ll love it!) The video, without going into too much detail, shows surveillance on US troops in Bagdhad, insurgents talking about who to target, followed by the sound of a high powered rifle. You then see the aftermath… people scattering, soldiers obviously hit by the sniper on the ground.

First, lets talk about what this video ISN’T.

This video is not news. Not by any standard currently available. Even by “drive-by” media standards, this isn’t news. This is a commercial, bought and paid for by the insurgents, and aired for free on CNN. It’s a commercial for terrorism, for the liberal agenda, and for “sissy politics.”

Snipers are not news. Snipers have been used in every conflict since the invention of projectile weapons. They were used successfully in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam… by BOTH sides. The US uses snipers, too…

This is a typical tactic of war. It’s highly effective, because it makes everyone look over their shoulder all the time.

But it’s not news. It’s not news that it’s being done… by either side. It’s not news that American soldiers are dying… targeted specifically by the enemy. It’s not a surprise, and it’s not news.

News is informative. It tells us something we don’t already know.

CNN crossed a line… they’re well on their way to airing live combat footage…. something I always thought was only done in Starship Troopers. It made for great sci-fi… but it doesn’t make for good news.

Imagine watching this video on CNN and realizing it’s your son/husband/brother being targeted and killed… as you and millions of other Americans watch. Imagine listening to the terrorists selecting their target, being careful not to kill any Iraqis… only Americans.

CNN has decided to place itself squarely in the anti-war camp. We’ve known that for years. But now they’re using the most graphic and inexcusable methods at their disposal to forward their agenda. Specifically – to out Bush and the Republicans. CNN is on their way towards a long-term goal… the pussification of America. (Yes, I made that word up)

No country that airs terrorist propaganda on its major news networks and calls it “news” has any chance of winning any kind of a war. There’s good reason we lost Korea, lost Vietnam, and lost the Gulf War (we lost the Gulf War because we gave up without finishing). In all cases, we were afraid to take losses, and afraid of being seen as barbaric by the rest of the world.

We have two choices: 1. Stop media coverage and do what needs to be done to win, including killing innocent civilians that get caught in the crossfire. 2. Pull out of all world conflicts and hope no one comes here to try and kill us, because we’ve lost the will to be strong.

Option 3: Stay involved in all world conflicts but DON’T have the will to win. That’s the option we’re on right now, thanks to irresponsible networks like CNN. Option 3 will result in the erosion of America’s strength, and we’ll end up being ruled by a pandering set of socialists like Pelosi and Kennedy, weak economically, weak spiritually, and weak militarily.

God help us.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say, “I told you so, you miserable pukes.”

Of course “most of Texas was spared” in hurricane Rita. The only reason Rita made the news, caused evacuations, or even mattered one little bit was that the media used its scare tactics and sensational journalism to create a panic in the wake of Katrina. They always do it, and we should know it by now.

If a hurricane destroys a city, the next 20 hurricanes are not going to destroy another one. A “100 Year” disaster doesn’t happen within 2 weeks. Or at least, the statistics do not support the theory. The odds of 2 events like Katrina/New Orleans occuring in the same DECADE, let alone MONTH are astronomically small.

And frankly, most of the cities in the U.S. were smart enough to build ABOVE sea level, so even when there is a big hurricane, it’s not going to destroy them.

I suppose if I were a black leader, today I’d be saying that the reason Texas wasn’t affected is that it’s mostly white people living there. Because we all know Texas doesn’t have poor people.

Stop freaking listening to CNN for 2 seconds and use your brains. Katrina isn’t happening again any time soon, and if we have the good sense to let New Orleans sink into the ocean, we won’t have to worry about it EVER happening again. The horse is dead. Get off.
