Aiding the Enemy
I wouldn’t be much of an “issues” blogger if I didn’t mention the CNN airing of the insurgent sniper video. I’ve left it alone because I figured it would naturally blow up in CNN’s face. However, since it doesn’t appear that’s happened yet, I’ll chime in.
I don’t know if you’ve watched the video, and I’m not even going to link it. It’s not worthy of being linked, unless you’re a nihilist. (Nighmare, you’ll love it!) The video, without going into too much detail, shows surveillance on US troops in Bagdhad, insurgents talking about who to target, followed by the sound of a high powered rifle. You then see the aftermath… people scattering, soldiers obviously hit by the sniper on the ground.
First, lets talk about what this video ISN’T.
This video is not news. Not by any standard currently available. Even by “drive-by” media standards, this isn’t news. This is a commercial, bought and paid for by the insurgents, and aired for free on CNN. It’s a commercial for terrorism, for the liberal agenda, and for “sissy politics.”
Snipers are not news. Snipers have been used in every conflict since the invention of projectile weapons. They were used successfully in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam… by BOTH sides. The US uses snipers, too…
This is a typical tactic of war. It’s highly effective, because it makes everyone look over their shoulder all the time.
But it’s not news. It’s not news that it’s being done… by either side. It’s not news that American soldiers are dying… targeted specifically by the enemy. It’s not a surprise, and it’s not news.
News is informative. It tells us something we don’t already know.
CNN crossed a line… they’re well on their way to airing live combat footage…. something I always thought was only done in Starship Troopers. It made for great sci-fi… but it doesn’t make for good news.
Imagine watching this video on CNN and realizing it’s your son/husband/brother being targeted and killed… as you and millions of other Americans watch. Imagine listening to the terrorists selecting their target, being careful not to kill any Iraqis… only Americans.
CNN has decided to place itself squarely in the anti-war camp. We’ve known that for years. But now they’re using the most graphic and inexcusable methods at their disposal to forward their agenda. Specifically - to out Bush and the Republicans. CNN is on their way towards a long-term goal… the pussification of America. (Yes, I made that word up)
No country that airs terrorist propaganda on its major news networks and calls it “news” has any chance of winning any kind of a war. There’s good reason we lost Korea, lost Vietnam, and lost the Gulf War (we lost the Gulf War because we gave up without finishing). In all cases, we were afraid to take losses, and afraid of being seen as barbaric by the rest of the world.
We have two choices: 1. Stop media coverage and do what needs to be done to win, including killing innocent civilians that get caught in the crossfire. 2. Pull out of all world conflicts and hope no one comes here to try and kill us, because we’ve lost the will to be strong.
Option 3: Stay involved in all world conflicts but DON’T have the will to win. That’s the option we’re on right now, thanks to irresponsible networks like CNN. Option 3 will result in the erosion of America’s strength, and we’ll end up being ruled by a pandering set of socialists like Pelosi and Kennedy, weak economically, weak spiritually, and weak militarily.
God help us.
