My Lame Existence

I liked what Jenna and Rachel wrote on the subject of trolls. Those of us in the blogging community know why we’re here, for the most part. We all entered this hobby with skepticism and some level of anxiety. Would we be accepted? Would anyone read? Would holding up a mirror to ourselves expose things we didn’t want to acknowledge about ourselves?

And what we found was that we were accepted. Not by everyone, but by those with like interests and like minds. And readers materialized out of nowhere. And for the most part, they liked what we had to say, or were at least entertained. 99% of the comments are nothing but encouragement and healthy dialogue. Chicken soup for the soul, if you will.

And yes, many of us found that there were things about ourselves that we didn’t like, but were forced to acknowledge and face head on because of the public nature of our forum. Most of us learned from the experience, and we certainly all try to help each other through it all. I’ve found the level of care and support to be much higher in the blogging community than I have found in “real life.”

Most of the people that comment here are people I’d love to meet. Certainly all of the people on my “favorites” list. Is it crazy? Perhaps. But no more crazy than going to a bar or nightclub trying to meet people. This forum filters through all of the crap, and cuts to the chase. There’s a lot of fluff on blogs, but there’s also a lot of substance.

Only a person looking in from the outside could ever be a troll. Only someone so bitter and twisted that they’re afraid to expose their thoughts and claim them as their own.
