Just Curious, Obama Lovers
So, now that we’re several months into Obama’s presidency, I’m very curious as to what all of the Obama supporters think of his job so far. I’m particularly interested because of the irrational exuberance about him during the campaign. The Obama worship was so extreme, I wondered if he’d ever be scrutinized in office.
Then I remembered that W’s approval rating after the same amount of time in the presidency was within 2% of where Obama’s is… And people ended up hating W.
Is the “hope and change” thing everything you believed it would be?

I think it’s just way too soon to be making judgment calls.
I was never a gushing Obama supporter. I was always going to vote for Obama, but I wasn’t one of those people fawning all over him. But I can see how people do – he’s incredibly charismatic, can speak without f**king up the English language every time he opens his mouth, and made people who didn’t previously didn’t(including myself) feel optimistic about things feel hopeful. Now, whether all that hope and good feeling is validated will remain to be seen. But for now, like DK said, I think it’s too soon to tell.
I’m curious, Pete – what do you think of what Meghan McCain has been saying about the republican party? Do you agree with any of what she’s saying?
I think Meghan is entitled to her opinions, but I also think that John obviously didn’t spank her enough.

One of my endearingly annoying traits is the ability to see both sides of incredibly complex issues (which is part of my superiority complex, I find you people who are slavishly devoted to one p.o.v. terribly unimaginative). So while I vigorously disagree with some issues I’m mildly non-plussed about others, but then I’ve felt pretty much the same way about every President since his-royal Billness was in office.
