Definitely spot on. It's almost tragically comical to listen to talk about wind farms and solar panels. The truth is that it will be a small percentage of power at best.

What we need to talk about is the end of the internal combustion engine as the default powerplant of humanity. Everything from oil and coal burning powerplants to gasoline and diesel mechanical engines are the root cause of our pollution problem, our energy crisis, and our national security entanglements. We need to move to a purely electrified society. The only answer right now is nuclear power.

Not only that we need to move forward on fusion power. We need serious investment and we need to know once in for all whether it is possible or practical to go down this path. From what I have read it is possible to create a fusion powerplant that will be more efficient than nuclear fission and cleaner as well.

I also think we should invest resources on nuclear waste disposal. I for one do not believe the issue of nuclear waste disposal and overall nuclear reactor safety are insurmountable problems.

I think the establishment of a nuclear power backbone to the infrastructure of this nation would have a trans-formative effect both on the quality of life in this country but will create the "green" industry Obama wax's peotic about. That coupled with all the other ancillary technology needed; like more power efficient electronics; electric heating and cooking; electric transportation both public and private; and battery technology will create the new industry.

We can exploit these new industries to bring jobs back to America; establish a new industry with products ans services to sell globally that will establish a truly meaningful and tangible wealth and prosperity to this nation.

And also make a cleaner, safer and beautiful America.

I'm personally planning to buy the first home-sized nuclear reactor that GE comes up with.

You left off the fact that some of the most toxic spewing factories on the face of the earth are . . . solar cell factories.

I still think that the good ideas from "environmentalists" are also good "reduce dependency on foreign energy sources," and some more research would be a good plan.

Oh, and for anyone who still thinks ethanol is a good plan, STOP IT!

I don't think there is any one plan that is going to work. Overall we need to stop looking for the magic bullet and figure out what local solutions we can come up with.

It's a shame I can't harness my own personal "methane" production. I'd never need electricity agan.

Spot on. I've met very few (maybe no) dogmatic environmentalists who are actually living a lifestyle to match their retoric.

Another problem with the big solar fields is that they require a lot of water, which is usually scarce in a place hot enough to host a solar field.
