If we really believe in isolationism we're gonna have to stop trying to sell the garbage we make in the USA to folks in other countries. If you don't, then it ain't isolationism, it's just selling garbage to rubes and pulling up stakes before they catch on. That's an actionable offense and we've been guilty of it since we could package a product.

Thing is, it shouldn't be considered a "moral" issue. It's a legal one. If people could separate THEIR morals from the law, equality might happen. I don't care if there are people who don't like that I might want to marry someone they don't approve of. It shouldn't be up to them to decide. Just like it isn't up to me to decide who they can marry.

Solid prediction list Pete. I share your concerns about the direction of the country but I am willing to give the democrats a chance, but history tells me they are not wired to look out for the best interests of this country as a whole.

Interestingly enough the dems gained power by leaning conservative. The democrats now have a pro-life senator with a real military background in Pennsylvania as just one of many examples.

The dems won and high-fives to them. I will not run out and cry election fraud as dems would have if things had gone the other way. They beat a bunch of republicans that could not fight their way out of a paper bag. As I thought about the accomplishments of the republican controlled congress the list was painfully short. They had their chance and effed it up. Quite honestly I had a hard time distinguishing between the current republican congress and the democrats that were kicked out in 94. I lay much, but not all, of the blame with Bush and a lack of leadership.

You had a post from Jodie that thinks the dems are interested in basic human rights - the promise that keeps giving but is never delivered on for some reason. Gosh I wonder why Jodie? The power the democrats have is derived by creating groups of citizens that are dependant on government to solve all their problems including the so called equality gap. It is no accident that many of the things the democrats have been promising for 50 years have not come to fruition. Jodie will always be on this journey searching for equality and sadly it will never reach her expectations because she trusts in a powerful government more than herself or those around her. It will always be just one more election away. That’s how Democrats win. Long live Eric Hoffer.

Ah. See, it's not only Conservatives that vote on "moral issues."
